Santiago de Compostela is where the pilgrimage of the Way of Saint James comes to a halt and is therefore a World Heritage site. It is one of the many places that still attract huge numbers of tourists from all over the world coming here to see the many monuments it has under its fold. It is believed that Saint James was buried in the town and is referred to as the town of apostles.

The numerous monuments found in the town have wonderful architectural styles to them with some being very unique to the region. The many famed universities found here attest to the huge number of students within the city and you will have the young feeling all over again with the lively students all over the place especially during the peak season.

The cuisine of Santiago de Compostela has a reputation and is mainly made up of sea food. Galicia is the main area where you can enjoy delicious sea food. Fish is typical in all of Galicia and particularly in Santiago. Its quality is extraordinary and you will enjoy every fresh bite that you take. Some of the delicacies worth trying out while here include the symbol of the town Saint Jacob’s Shell viera and the pulpoa la gallega which is paprika prepared octopus. Another great dish is empanada gallega which can either be a pie of meat, vegetables or fish.

The almonds tart is very sweet and famed throughout the region and beyond.  Santiago also has some of the best wines with the most reputable being the Ribeiro. It is also worth trying out other wines found here among them Bentazos, fefinanes, Rosal vakantiewoningen spanje., Ulla, Amandi and Valdeorras. They are amazing and refreshing wines bound to make any meal taken most enjoyable and memorable.

Each day spent in Santiago opens a whole new adventure as far as gastronomy is concerned. It is advisable to try out the different delicacies of the region, you never know what you could find most interesting and enjoyable thereby making your tour and holiday here enjoyable. There is nothing better than sitting down for a great meal after visiting the major attractions in the region most of them monuments or attending the amazing events and festivals within the different seasons. You can never go wrong in choosing the town as the perfect destination especially for a more relaxed and quiet kind of vacation.
