One popular holiday vacation spot in Spain is Seville; as a
provincial capital and Regional Government site, it boasts of more than
700,000 inhabitants. Seville’s strategic location on the Guadalquivir

brought on many fiestas that are vibrantly celebrated throughout the
year.

History

The Tartessians came on in 207 B.C. with the
Romans and Northern barbarians following soon after. The Iberian
Peninsula was conquered by various cultures which formed an impact on
the inhabitants to this day.

Seville brought on its own unique
history with the development of Don Juan. This city holds a lot of life
and soul with the establishments of traditions and folklore like the
flamenco and bullfights.

The city’s ancient Jewish quarter is
currently active with the traditional lifestyle found along the
intricate labyrinth of cobbled and winding narrow pathways with looming
ancient buildings.

Customs

Seville would delight the

Semana Santa or Easter Week is a greatly revered fiesta with many
locals thronging the city streets in solemnity on Good Friday for the
religious remembrance of their faith. However, the sobriety turns into
festivity later in the week as the whole city celebrates Easter Sunday
which is soon followed by Feria de Sevilla which is a flamenco festival.
There are lots of dancing, singing, music and wine flowing freely in
this fiesta.

Year end fiesta

Seville enjoys the last month
of the year in style with the Day of Inmaculada fiesta. This fiesta is
celebrated on December 7th and 8th with all participants coming together
dressed in medieval times’ attire.

The religious event is
celebrated in awe and reverence at the Virgin Inmaculada’s statue which
is located between the Alcazar and the cathedral. Many traditional songs
and dances are performed as part of the fiesta vakantiehuis in spanje
. There is also the Danza de los Seises which is a dance performance by
the children staged in the city cathedral. The performing children are
also dressed in traditional attire.

New Year

When the New Year comes on, a colorful procession with three Magi passes on giving presents to children.

About the author:

Club

Discovering All Time Valencia Fiestas

Valencia Community has three provinces; they are Alicante, Castellon
and Valencia which is the capital of the Community. This Community is
Spain’s Autonomous Community where sunshine is enjoyed over 300 days of
the year with more than 500 kilometers of beautiful and attractive
beaches; this makes Valencia Community very popular as a tourist
destination in Spain.

However, there is more than the natural
beauty and sights of attraction in Valencia. The diverse ancient
conquests of the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Moors and Christian
Re-Conquest bring on varied influences with indelible marks through
fiestas and traditions besides the numerous artisan monuments in
Valencia.

Festivals

There are plenty of festivals celebrated
in Valencia. It is well known for its festive celebrations of every
fiesta according to the culture and tradition which it upholds
fervently. There are colorful processions and active participation from
the locals and visitors; there are singing, dancing, music, flamenco and
spectacular fireworks.

The community in Valencia has no
hesitation in taking a year to build a pyrotechnical art piece to be
burned down in a night of festivity. Every festival is celebrated with
full indulgence to enjoy that moment.

Springtime celebrations

One
of the most popular fiestas in Valencia is its springtime festivals;
especially the Fallas de San José which is a celebration of spring
commencing. There would be well constructed and elaborate cardboard
sculptures that would be burned on the March 19th; the last day of the
festival after a humongous street party. This festival is celebrated
over 4 days.

There would be dances, bullfights and more fireworks
throughout the celebrations. The locals would come out donned in
beautiful traditional regional attire in full celebration of the
festival.

Summer celebrations

Summer is another great
occasion for festivity in Valencia; hence, the Feria de Julio is
elaborately celebrated with floral decorations everywhere. There would
be lots of dancing, parties, fireworks and wine freely flowing from the
region’s best sherry wine available.

Many of these festivals
incorporate Spain’s traditional art of bull fighting. The festivity is
spiked up with the bullfights that run throughout Valencia Community.

In October, the Valencia Community would celebrate a special day on the ninth day vakantiehuis spanje huren.
This is the festival of Day of Comunidad Valenciana where
commemorations are made in conjunction with the region’s Re-Conquest
from the Moors.

Then, there is the La Mocaorá fiesta where every
Spaniard and tourist would feast on the local cuisines to their heart’s
content. This is a favorite fiesta by gourmets and chefs who love to
enjoy the traditional tantalizing local recipes for one and all.

About the author:
The Best of Madrid Fiestas and Folklore

Madrid is one of the more popular holiday resorts in Spain. The city
has blossomed tremendously since the Franco regime. Today’s
constitutional monarchy is well respected and established with the
sereno being obsolete and technology taking the frontline.

However, with the 4.5 million inhabitants in Madrid, there are many
traditions and culture that are still deeply entrenched and widely
practiced today; hence, there is a myriad of fiestas and folklore that
are active and widely celebrated throughout the year.

Madrid is a delightful city that is affordable for an exciting adventure holiday for most tourists any time of the year.

New Year Fiestas

Any time is a good time to visit Madrid. But the New Year celebrations
in Madrid are equal to none elsewhere. The spectacular celebrations draw
in thousands of revelers to Puerta del Sol. There is a constant rhythm
of music, dancing and merry making with free flow of wine throughout the
night.

The fiesta has many people attempting to eat 12 grapes in the last 12
seconds of the old year to bring on good luck. All of Spain is totally
involved in this fiesta whether on the television or in person at the
venue. The big clock beats out the New Year chimes to the delight of the
massive crowd before the city is painted red with great party by one
and all.

Close to the New Year on January 5th, Madrid joins other Spanish towns
in the famous three Magi procession where 3 representatives donning
medieval garment go around giving gifts to children.

Mid Year Fiestas

Another popular fiesta that is well celebrated in Madrid is the San
Isidro fiesta on May 15th who is the city’s honored patron. There is a
lot of merry making and festivity with plenty of concerts and public
performances. Bullfights are included into the fiesta’s agenda to add on
to the merry making in the season.

The local authorities would organize the July and August fiesta called
Veranos de la Villa or a Summer in the Village fiesta. There would be
many cultural events happening to allow others to experience the local
culture.

The Verbena de la Paloma festival comes on from August 6th for a week or
so. This festival showcases Madrid’s best and popular traditions;
complete with regional costumes. Regional dances called Chotis are
performed.

Year End fiestas

Locals and tourists would enjoy the month of September where there are plenty of concerts and theatrical performances vakantiehuizen playa daro; time quickly flies when November continues with the famous International Jazz festival in Madrid.

The year ends with a bang in December with the Christmas cribs festival at Plaza Mayor.
Impressive Historical Attractions at Cadiz

Cadiz is tranquil city more fondly known as the ‘silver cup’ for its
idyllic location near the Atlantic Ocean where its peculiar coastline
shapes the silvery ocean waters. This beachside city is very popular
with tourists for the many offerings around.

Strategic location

The city of Cadiz has a beautiful beach promenade on the beach which
makes tourists feel as if they are in Havana, Cuba. There is the
boisterous sea on one side with colorful historical buildings sporting
the other side.

Cadiz is situated between the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean with an interesting history.

History

Cadiz was set up by the Phoenicians who called it “Gadir” with the
meaning “fortified city”. It was of significant importance to the
Tartessos kingdom as a Phoenician settlement. The Carthaginians took
over Cadiz when Hannibal rampaged against it over the Alps in a battle
with Rome.

However, Hannibal could not sustain his conquer over “Gadir” which was
soon captured by the Romans. Gadir became “Gades” and it blossomed as a
Roman allied community. The Romans built many significant and important
monuments such as an amphitheater and aqueducts.

Attractions

There are many attractions which Cadiz offers tourists; Cadiz Museum
offers archaeology, ethnography and art displays with important remains
of ancient Phoenician and Roman epochs like the invaluable Phoenician
sarcophagi.

There are ancient remains from the Phoenician and Punic eras until the
18th century at the Casa del Obispo archaeological site in Cadiz. There
are also the remnants of a 1st century BC Roman theater as the medieval
city now stands over it.

Even today, the Roman aqueducts are being utilized to supply water to
the city from Tempul which is located 70 km away. Another 1st century BC
Roman factory remains has been turned into a production house for
salted fish which was a leading industry in the past. Tourists would
also find the Roman necropolis remains in Columbarios Romanos which
depicts a Roman funeral cult.

Cadiz has plenty of historical monuments in the form of churches and
palaces with numerous military and civilian buildings built between the
Middle Ages and 20th century vakantiehuisje spanje.
Of worthy mention would be the Santa Cruz Cathedral which is exquisite
in its structure with an impressive tower that offers amazing panoramic
views of Cadiz and the Atlantic Ocean.

Another interesting historical monument at Cadiz is Carcel Real which
was formerly a prison. Cadiz also offers some great entertainment at its
local theater Gran Teatro Falla.
Traditional Attractions of Jerez de la Frontera

There are several reasons to visit Jerez de la Frontera. It is
renowned for its locally produced sherry wine as well as the local
equestrian school. These two components give Jerez the flavor and
distinction of a manorial town.

Historical Monuments

Jerez
is surrounded by ancient 12th century town walls which were built by
the Almohads. These walls enclose 46 hectares with a 4,000 meter
circumference. There are two remarkable towers which form part of the
Alcazar which used to be a Muslim rulers’ residence until the
Re-Conquest Christians subdued it.

Many Moorish mosques, Arab
baths, Gothic and Baroque churches exist in Jerez with numerous palaces
to depict the different eras of Jerez.

Attractions

Jerez
has been long producing its famous DO Xérès-Jerez-Sherry wines
Xérès-Jerez-Sherry for more than 3000 years which it exported to Rome
2000 years ago. These Jerez Sherry wines were popular with the English
during the 12th century. Jerez has many bodegas or wine cellars with a
long production tradition. This famous attraction of Jerez, the bodegas,
never fails to draw tourists to a wine tasting session while being
enlightened with the wine production process and its history. The local
brand Sherry originates from the Moorish term for the city “Sherish”.

Jerez’s closeness to the Costa de la Luz beaches which are 15 km away makes it an ideal holiday spot for tourists.

Jerez
is also renowned for its traditions of flamenco and fiestas. It offers
numerous important historical heritage and artistic monuments.
Motorcycle racing fans are delighted to enjoy the annual “Grand Prix”
here.

Jerez also offers top pedigree horses that are locally
bred; these creatures were first brought in by Carthusian monks in the
past for breeding purposes. The military took over the breeding task for
military purposes. Today, many species of rare and noble breeds can be
viewed at the annual Horse Fair which is held in May. It is purportedly
one of Andalusia’s largest and most popular fairs.

Dressage demonstrations by the Royal Andalusian Equestrian School can be viewed at Palacio Duque de Abrantes.

Culture

Jerez
has held on to one of the most revered cultures in its history; the
flamenco is very much alive and vibrantly practiced during special
occasions and fiestas. However, the abundance of tablaos or flamenco
clubs in Jerez allows locals and visitors to enjoy the culture anytime vakantiehuizen pollenca.
The Beautiful Places To See In Palencia, Spain

Palencia is a beautiful city that is located in the province of
Tierra de Campos in northwestern Spain. It is situated in the middle of
two hills and has a very picturesque view. The city has a rich history
as it was once occupied by the Moors, Romans and Celts. There are lots
of interesting places to see in Palencia if you spend your holiday
there.

The city wall is one of the things that you should see when you visit
Palencia. This magnificent wall is 10 meters high. According to the city
historians, the wall was built in 1778. The purpose of its construction
was to provide protection for the city against attacks from their
enemies. Majority of the wall is still intact and well preserved until
this day.

The Roman bridge of Palencia is another beautiful structure in the city.
The ancient bridge crosses the Carrion River. It was built to replace
the bridge that was originally built there. The Romans destroyed the
original bridge that was built during the medieval times and then built a
new bridge to cross the Carrion River. The bridge has three magnificent
arches. It also serves as a bridge to cross the modern to the ancient
settlements in the city. The modern part of the city is located on the
right side of the bridge while the ancient one is on its left side.

The cathedral in Palencia is a famous tourist attraction. Its
construction first began in 1321 but it took a long time to finish. The
construction of the cathedral was finally finished in 1504. The design
of the cathedral is based on the traditional Gothic style. As you enter
